Get found on Google: your Business Profile checklist
Updated 17 July 2026 · 2 min read
Local search is how the next client finds a tailor. Claim your profile, add your booking link, and put reviews on autopilot.
When someone nearby searches "tailor near me" or "made to measure suit", Google shows Business Profiles before websites. For a studio, this one free listing usually matters more than any advertising. Work through this checklist once — it takes about an hour — then let Faden keep the review side running for you.
1. Claim and verify your profile
Go to business.google.com and claim (or create) your listing. Google will verify you by postcard, phone or video — do it straight away; nothing else on this list works until you're verified.
2. Get the basics exactly right
- Category: set your primary category to Custom tailor (add Men's clothing store, Bespoke clothing store or Clothing alteration service as secondaries if they fit).
- Address, phone and hours: make these identical to what's in Settings → Business in Faden. Consistency matters — your studio door publishes the same details to Google as structured data, and matching information strengthens both.
- Photos: add at least ten real ones — the shopfront, the fitting room, cloth on the table, finished garments. Profiles with photos get dramatically more clicks and direction requests.
3. Add your booking link
Your studio has a public booking page — clients pick a time and book without an account.
- In your Business Profile, choose Edit profile → Booking (Google sometimes labels it Appointment links).
- Paste your booking page address: your own domain followed by /book — for example
https://design.yourstudio.com.au/book(youryourstudio.studios.faden.tech/bookaddress works just as well).
Now "Book online" appears right on your Google listing, and a search becomes an appointment in two taps. Put the same link in your Instagram bio while you're at it.
4. Put reviews on autopilot
Reviews are the single biggest local-ranking factor — and the moment to ask is right after delivery, when the client is happiest.
- In your Business Profile, choose Ask for reviews and copy the short link (it looks like
g.page/r/…/review). - In Faden, paste it under Settings → Automations → Delivery controls → Google review link.
- Make sure the Review requests recipe is on (Automations page).
From then on, a few days after each delivered order, Faden asks the client for a review — by text message when their phone can receive one, otherwise by a branded email — and sends them straight to your Google review form. One ask per order, never more.
Reply to every review, good or bad, in your own voice. Google notices active profiles, and future clients read the replies as closely as the reviews.
5. Keep it alive
A dormant profile slides down the results. Once a month: add a photo or two, check your hours (especially around holidays), and consider a short post — a finished commission makes a perfect one.
