Returns, remakes and when fit fails

The recovery path: capture the problem, decide alter-vs-remake, and keep the client — with the cost visible.

Sometimes the garment comes back. Handled well, a failed fit becomes the story a client tells about why they trust you — Faden keeps the handling orderly.

Capture the return

Record the return against the commission with the reason. It sits on the order and the client's Yarn — the history is honest, which matters when patterns emerge.

Alter or remake?

  • Alterable — record the alterations with areas and adjustments, and the garment goes back through a short loop on the Board.
  • Remake — raise the remake linked to the original, so the cost of the failure is attributed, not buried.

Either way the margin impact is visible — you can't manage remake rates you can't see.

The client side

Keep the client warm through it: the commission's progress stays visible in their portal, and your fit guarantee wording sets expectations before anything ever fails.

Watch for the same failure twice — a recurring return reason across clients is a block, cloth or factory issue, and it's cheaper to fix upstream.
