Preset roles, the custom role builder and budget caps — access shaped to the job, not the other way around.

Presets first
The preset roles — owner, manager, tailor, front of house — fit most studios out of the box. Start there; reach for custom roles when a preset genuinely doesn't match the job.
The role builder
Settings → Team & access lets you compose a role from individual permissions — what can be seen (wholesale costs? reports? the whole book or their own clients?) and what can be done (refunds? exports? settings?). Name it for the job — Senior fitter, Saturday counter — and assign it like any preset.
Budget caps
Independent of role, each person can carry money limits: the maximum discount and refund they can issue unaided. Beyond the cap it goes to approval — generosity with a ceiling.
People who aren't staff
Outside collaborators get external access — scoped, time-limited links to just their slice (an alteration hand's jobs, a factory's tickets) — never a login to the house. See also The Makers & the Workroom.
Review who-can-do-what quarterly. Access drifts upward in every business; a ten-minute review resets it.
