How Faden picks SMS vs email
Updated 15 July 2026 · 1 min read
Line-type detection, per-event channel rules and consent — why the right message takes the right road on its own.
You set the policy; Faden handles the per-client judgement.
The phone number knows
When a client's number is saved, Faden checks what kind of line it is — mobile numbers can take SMS, landlines can't. The line type shows as a badge on the record, and messaging quietly respects it: a "send by SMS" event falls back to email for the client whose number turns out to be a shopfront landline.
Your channel policy
Per event, you choose the channel mix in Settings → Messaging — most studios land on SMS for time-critical touches (fitting tomorrow) and email for content (receipts, quotes, care notes).
Consent gates marketing
Transactional messages (their own order, their own appointment) always may send. Marketing only reaches clients who've opted in — Faden enforces the split, so a campaign can't accidentally text the whole book. Consent lives on the client record; see Data Control for the governance side.
Credits and numbers for SMS — the house number, your own number, top-ups — are covered in SMS from your studio.
